Paralegal: Awaiting Bar Exam Results

Aaron Martinez is a multi-talented soon-to-be lawyer and paralegal with a vast array of experience. He is currently pending admission to the State Bar of Michigan. He has more than 10 years of experience in providing high-quality legal and legislative services, political consulting, and media strategy services. Mr. Martinez also has experience in broadcasting.  Mr. Martinez is a proud graduate of Oakland Community College, the James Madison College at Michigan State University, and the University of Detroit Mercy Law School. In law school, Aaron earned both the Dean’s Scholarship and the Book Award for the Trial Advocacy course. Mr. Martinez has been a paralegal with the Nichols Law Firm since 2016.

Mr. Martinez’s experience in the law is wide-ranging, and includes experience working in litigation as well as successfully authoring and passing bipartisan legislation, including PA 312 of 2014 which provides Michigan’s police first responders with heroin overdose treatments and the training on how to administer them. Along with Mike Nichols, Mr. Martinez is the co-author of the Michigan Bar Journal article entitled “Driving Legally in a World of Recreational Marijuana.” During his time with NLF, Mr. Martinez has written motions which resulted in dismissal of charges before a hearing, and works directly with the firm’s criminal defense trial team. His trial experience has taken him throughout the state of Michigan, earning acquittals or dismissals in most of the trials. Mr. Martinez knows that hard work, research, and preparation are the keys to serving our clients well. He has worked on cases involving elected officials, professional athletes, and other high-profile individuals with the utmost confidentiality. He is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, where he serves on the selective Legislative Committee as a member at large, as well as the Criminal Law Committee. He also holds memberships with the Wolverine Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the State Bar of Michigan Law Student Section.

Outside of the office, he loves exploring new places with his wife and dog, and enjoys listening to new music releases - a hobby he’s had since he began working in radio broadcasting in 2009.

After passing the bar, Mr. Martinez looks forward to developing a practice in the areas of Criminal Law, Family Law, Constitutional Law, and Election Law.
