 The Lansing State Journal launched an editorial in opposition of the Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney and in support of a client of the Nichols Law Firm. "I am pleased to see the media educate the public on the fact that the prosecutor is wasting taxpayer resources," said Mike Nichols. The prosecutor's office has revoked any plea offers against the client because he refused to "roll over" and cooperate. "The prosecutor's office had the temerity to tell me that because my client did not cooperate against the other students charged, they were unable to get guilty pleas on more serious crimes from them. That attitude is wrong and it is not in the best interests of the taxpayers." The pretrial in the case was held on February 25th, 2010.
