Lansing criminal defense attorney Mike Nichols will speak and present at the 2013 American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) annual conference in Washington D.C.. Nichols, whose practice is focused on drug and alcohol crimes, especially driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, will take part in a workshop entitled: "Science in the Courtroom, a Matter of Perspective."
Nichols says "it is an honor to be asked to share the stage with some outstanding leaders in forensic science, including Ted Vosk of Washington." Nichols, who practices statewide with a main office in East Lansing is an associate member of the Academy's Jurisprudence Section. He says "my role will be to provide a demonstration on how to effectively cross an expert in forensic evidence in a criminal case. This is really exciting to be presenting at such a high level with lawyers and experts from around the country observing."
Nichols co-authored a chapter on "Understanding DUI Mathematics" in the Aspatore Publishing "Inside the Minds" series, is author of the OWI Handbook by West Publishing and teaches forensic evidence as well as DUI Law and Practice at the Thomas M Cooley Lansing campus.
