Michigan Criminal Defense and Drunk Driving Attorney Mike Nichols says a Proposed Law Targets Senior Citizens Who Drive and Is a Bad Idea

By Michael Nichols

Michigan lawmakers are considering legislation that would allow doctors to report a patient to the Secretary of State if the doctor is concerned about the person's ability to drive. Michigan attorney Mike Nichols says "we are one step closer to allowing the government to interfere with the liberty of a person because we think they 'may' commit a crime." Coverage of the legislation with a link to the proposed bill can be found here:

Nichols is an East Lansing attorney who fights for the civil liberties of all Michigan residents who are facing an overbearing government. He says "while people need to be held responsible for violating the law and protection of society are vital government interests on the highways - we need to balance that with the rights of individuals and be very jealous of how we guard our right to be left alone" Nichols says.
