Mike Nichols is the author of the OWI Handbook for West Publishing, the leading publisher of scholarly practice guides; he is a leader by teaching in the classrom at the Western Michigan University/Thomas M Cooley Law School and he leads by defending the constitution one case at a time in courtrooms throughut Michigan. Now, Mike Nichols of East Lansing is a faculty-member for the advanced DUI/OVI seminar for lawyers in Ohio. Nichols travelled from East Lansing to Columbus to speak to the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in mid-March.
Nichols spoke on uncertainty and metrology March 12-13 for the OACDL. Nichols says "this seminar is one of the best state seminars in the nation. It was an incredible honor to speak to one of the largest seminars that included practicing lawyers of all skill levels as well as judges."
Nichols is now organizing the Michigan Association of OWI Attorneys (MIAOWIA) advanced seminar on drugged driving. The MIAOWIA seminar will be May 1-2 in East Lansing. Nichols, who lives in nearby Meridian Township, is one of the founders on MIAOWIA and serves as the board secretary. He will also be speaking for Michigan judges in early May at the Michigan Judges Association.
Nichols also is working on legislation to make changes in Michian law to protect the rights of all motorists including bills to modify the way drunk and drugged driving cases are investigated. He serves on the rules and laws committee for the criminal defense attorneys of Michigan (CDAM). Nichols is also a member of the 21st Centruy Prctice Task Force for the State Bar of Michigan and the task force on body cameras for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL).
