Prosecutors threw everything that they had at winning the conviction of an off-duty Michigan State Police Trooper for allegedly drunk driving. However, at the end of 2 days of a hard-fought trial in Ludington, they heard the jury announce that the trooper was "still not guilty" after the jury could not return a verdict. "This was a case in which I could only imagine who our client ticked off because, even as we slowly exposed the problems with the case, the prosecutors insisted that the client MUST plead guilty to at least impaired driving," said Mike Nichols.
