Medical Marijuana and a Michigan Divorce and Custody Case

By Michael Nichols
Categories: Family Law

Michigan divorce and custody attorney Nick Calkins is marshaling the tools to protect you and your rights in a divorce or custody/child support matter. Calkins is up on the developments in the law and will be commiserating with other divorce and custody lawyers from around the state at the Michigan Family Law Institute. Calkins says "I am tracking proposed legislation on changes to the medical marijuana act and the competing ballot initiatives to legalize marijuana. The expected changes in the law are going to have to be implemented in some fashion with cases involving family law in the State of Michigan."

Calkins is a litigation attorney who joined the Nichols Law Firm in 2015. He has a finance background and recently successfully negotiated a post judgment child support matter for a client of Egyptian descent, who was awarded full legal and physical custody of her children. She was married in an arranged marriage to a doctor who continually tried to financially break her for over 10 years since the divorce. Calkins negotiated an agreement that will hopefully give his client some peace from continued harassment in court and ongoing litigation.
