The Nichols Law Firm represents a number of people charged with crimes as a result of an incident off campus at Michigan State University on April 5th and 6th, 2008. The so-called “Cedarfest riot” led to thousands of charges. “We are tirelessly working to protect and preserve our client’s rights,” said attorney Mike Nichols. “It is serious enough to have a criminal conviction on your record – even a misdemeanor – but we have 1 judge who has already stated that he intends to impose a 1 year ban on any defendant who is convicted."

Several juries were selected to decide upcoming trials during the week of June 9th and pre-trial motions filed on behalf of Nichols Law Firm clients are scheduled to be heard. “Like we do in every case, we have to go the extra mile,” said Nichols. “Except here, there is media coverage that is tainting the proceedings in ways I have not seen since the Holland case. We have got to fight especially hard to get fair and just outcomes. The glare of the media coverage and the fact that the media seems to want to see our clients get convicted and banned from campus to sell more ad time or newspapers only motivates me to fight harder for what’s right.”

The Nichols Law Firm, PLLC represents clients throughout Mid Michigan and South Central Michigan including the cities of Lansing, Owosso, Haslett, Okemos, Grand Ledge, Mason, Charlotte, Portland, St. Johns, Battle Creek, Howell, Brighton, Williamston, Ithaca, Jackson, Flint, Grand Blanc, Breckenridge, Carson City, Shepard, St. Louis, Alma, Pine River Township, and Sumner Township.
