
Mr. Christopher Wickman joined the Nichols Law Firm in September 2018 after having his own solo practice for over six years. His practice at the Nichols Law Firm focuses on representing those accused of crimes by the government – misdemeanors and felonies ranging from operating a vehicle while driver’s license was suspended or while intoxicated to murder or criminal sexual conduct – at trial and on appeal. Chris also assists clients in areas related to criminal cases including Driver’s License Restoration, Personal Protection Order advocacy, Expungements, and Title IX investigations.
Chris obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy from Michigan State University’s James Madison College. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in college, Chris was frequently on the Dean’s List and was heavily involved in a number of work and volunteer activities, working up to four jobs at once while also a full-time student. He also served as a volunteer with Michigan State University’s Honor College and hosted potential college students through Day at State. While in law school, Chris was again active with work and volunteer activities and, through this work, found himself assisting in representing firm clients and responsible for drafting potential legislation and lobbying state and United States congresspeople on behalf of changes to the law with regards to people with disabilities among his other duties.
As an attorney, Chris remains committed to serving his Legal and Greater Lansing Communities. He formerly served on the team for the 30th Circuit Court Mental Health Specialty Court and currently serves on the team for the 54B District Court Sobriety Court and the 54B District Court Drug Court specialty courts. In this role, Chris protects the rights of participants, advocates for such, and helps contribute to the life-changing culture and practices of specialty courts which focus on reducing recidivism in a strong supportive system while addressing alcohol and substance abuse as well as other needs such as mental health.
Chris is currently a co-chair of the Ingham County Criminal Defense Law Section which has the mission of sharing knowledge related to emerging and important topics specific to criminal defense with the purpose of increasing the quality of legal assistance provided to individuals who find themselves accused by the government of crimes. He is also a Director of the Ingham County Bar Association and has been responsible for educational events for years for other attorneys as well as volunteering at the yearly Ask-A-Lawyer and other community service events. He is also a contributor to the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Chris is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan and has been admitted in the Eastern and Western District of Michigan. He has appeared multiple times before the Michigan Court of Appeals as well. He is a member of the Criminal Law and Appellate Sections of the State Bar of Michigan, a member of the Ingham County Bar Association, and a member of the Michigan Association for Justice. In 2016, Chris was named to the Top 5 Under 35 by the Ingham County Bar Association. In 2022, Chris received the Camille S. Abood Distinguished Volunteer Award from the Ingham County Bar Association. In 2024, Chris received the President’s Special Recognition Award from the Ingham County Bar Association.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Kristina and enjoys exploring Greater Lansing parks, cooking, MSU sports, the Detroit Lions, and musicals.
