Jackee Moss

Jackee Moss has been practicing law for over 10 years and joined the Nichols Law Firm in March 2021. His background is in family law, specifically divorce and custody cases. Since joining the Nichols Law Firm, he has expanded his practice, and he has represented individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies including operating while intoxicated and domestic violence. He has trial experience in family law and misdemeanor criminal cases.

Jackee recently played an instrumental role in a father retaining his parental rights in a Revocation of Paternity Act case. His client was the acknowledged father to a young son, and the child’s mother had tragically passed away. A third party alleged that he was the child’s biological father and filed a lawsuit seeking to terminate his client’s parental rights. The court ordered DNA testing to establish paternity, and it was revealed that the third party was in fact the child’s biological father. After an emotional trial, the judge terminated the parental rights of his client and ordered that custody of the child be given to the biological father, a stranger to the child. During the trial Jackee elicited testimony that the biological father was aware of the possibility of his paternity but chose to wait nearly three years before deciding to take legal action. The Michigan Court of Appeals reversed the trial court’s decision and ordered the acknowledged father’s parental rights restored. Needless to say, the father was elated to be reunited with his son. Many times, it’s tough to consider a situation as a win in family law, but we all gladly accept this win!
