DUI-OWI-OUIL ATTORNEY KAREN PHILLIPS GETS RESTRICTED LICENSE REINSTATED

By Michael Nichols

East Lansing attorney Karen Phillips, a DUI-OWI-OUIL attorney, represented a citizen accused to have violated the terms of their restricted license with a “rolling retest violation” on a Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device (BAIID). An expert witness was retained and ended up not being necessary after the hearing officer decided the evidence submitted supported setting aside the reinstated revoked license.  The expert witness was set to testify about an EtG test result that was negative, affects of alcohol in the human body and the Draeger breath test device.

Ms. Phillips credits the result to the citizen’s very smart decision to submit to an EtG test to verify that no alcohol had been consumed.  EtG is a naturally occurring metabolite in the human body that is left behind from the breakdown of ethanol in the body.
