YOU CAN AVOID JAIL – EVEN PROBATION DESPITE A HIGH BAC, AN ACCIDENT AND PRIOR DUI ISSUES SAYS LANSING OWI-DUI-OUIL ATTORNEY MIKE NICHOLS

By Michael Nichols

If you have had breath or blood alcohol content figures that exceed certain levels, judges usually impose jail time, or at least probation for an OWI conviction in Michigan. “However, the right leg-work can make a world of difference in allowing your lawyer to tell your story if you are convicted,” says OWI-OUIL-DUI expert Mike Nichols. Nichols is an expert in OWI-DUI-OUIL laws in Michigan. He wrote the Thomson West book on OWI for Michigan lawyers and is an adjunct law professor at Cooley law school in Lansing.

“Recently, a client plead guilty out of fear, frustration and guilt,” said Nichols. He added “this client had a prior arrest, ran out of gas and left his car on the side of the road and his breath estimate was .22 and .21. However, because he took my advice and followed down the path I guided him down, the judge rewarded him with no probation or jail but ordered him to finish the rehabilitative efforts he enthusiastically started and verify his accomplishments within a specific time frame.”
