PERSONAL PROTECTION ORDER DISMISSED: EAST LANSING ATTORNEY WENDY SCHILLER-NICHOLS OBTAINS JUSTICE FOR A NICHOLS LAW FIRM CLIENT

By Michael Nichols
Categories: Wendy M. Schiller-Nichols

In a Clinton County case that involved a Personal Protection Order (PPO), Wendy Schiller-Nichols convinced a Judge to terminate the order that was issued against her client.

After a hearing was held Ms. Schiller-Nichols successfully argued that a PPO should not have been granted in the first place. The Judge agreed with Ms. Schiller-Nichols, and terminated the Personal Protection Order. The order was then removed from the law enforcement agency’s system.

A PPO is a powerful court order that is often issued without the subject of the PPO having a chance to be heard. Once a PPO is entered into the Law Enforcement Information Network, the subject of the PPO (called the respondent) can be arrested on site for an alleged violation.
