MICHIGAN-DUI-DUID LAWYER MIKE NICHOLS TRAVELS TO THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION FOR THE SUMMER SESSION OF THE NATIONAL COLLEGE FOR DUI DEFENSE

By Michael Nichols

DUI attorney Mike Nichols of Lansing, the Michigan delegate for the National College for DUI Defense, is off to Boston for the summer session of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) summer session. Nichols has dedicated his East Lansing law practice to defending those charged with drunk or drugged driving for over 5 years and is a sustaining member of the NCDD. “The thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars that I spend on continuing education in the details of DUI law and the science of blood and breath testing is vital; it makes a difference and it helps lead to results,” Nichols says.

Nichols has practiced criminal defense for his entire 13 year career, all of which has been based in Lansing but covering the entire state. Nichols has achieved not guilty verdicts recently with breath test estimates as high as .27; .17 and blood estimates as high as .18. Nichols is also the attorney who led the charge to force the Michigan State Police to begin reporting the uncertainty in the measurement of blood alcohol tests (see: “Uncertainty Comes to Michigan” on our home page) and he is currently helping clients and other lawyers challenge the Michigan State Police manner of setting “cut off levels” for false positives in operating with the presence of marijuana cases. Nichols says “especially when it comes to a medical marijuana patient, the public and the judiciary should know that the methodology for detecting THC (marijuana) in blood is flawed and should be improved.”
