Rave Reviews for Michigan drunk driving attorney Mike Nichols After He Presents at the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Conference on the Truth Behind Detecting Marijuana in Human Blood

Criminal defense attorneys in Colorado were among the latest to hear the truth about the scientific limitations of detecting marijuana in human blood from criminal defense attorney Mike Nichols of East Lansing. Nichols spoke to the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar in April at their annual continuing legal education conference on drunk driving. The topic was gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and its limits in attempting to find marijuana in the blood of suspected drivers who police believe were operating their vehicles with the presence of marijuana in their system.

Conference organizer Jay Tiftickjian says: "We had approximately, if not over 100 paid attendees, and the defense bar in our state will definitely be higher moving forward due to your efforts and skill." Nichols says: "I spoke to a packed house and it was so encouraging to see - especially since Colorado may institute a per se rebuttable presumption of guilt if someone has 5 ng/mL in their blood at the time of driving."

Nichols is a leader in forensic evidence in criminal law and recently completed teaching that subject as an adjunct law professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Nichols has successfully moved to exclude blood analysis conducted by the Michigan State Police to prosecute people who are arrested for allegedly driving while impaired by their medications.
