MIKE NICHOLS TESTIFIES AS AN EXPERT IN A MICHIGAN-OWI/DUI HEARING AND HELPS A CITIZEN GET HIS DAY IN COURT

By Michael Nichols

Mike Nichols provided testimony as an expert witness on the possible defenses to a Michigan OWI/DUI and now the citizen accused of drinking and driving will get his day in court. "I was pleased by the reviewing court's decision because trial counsel did not advise his client of all the defenses," said Mike Nichols. Mike Nichols is an expert in OWI/DUI and author of the Michigan OWI Handbook by West Publishing.

"All I pointed out were the defenses that this citizen could have raised," Nichols added.  The citizen had plead guilty to OWI second offense based on the advice of his attorney, who indicated that there were no defenses once a motion to suppress the evidence failed. "I was not aware of the exchange between the attorney and the client and I did not know what the client was told or not told. All I explained was the wide array of defenses to an OWI other than an invalid arrest," Nichols explained.
