Deputies Handed out Tickets and Made Arrests for Alcohol Offenses without Regard to Team Loyalty at the MSU/U-M Football Game

Police agencies from around the East Lansing and Ingham County area converged on campus at Michigan State University to make arrests and hand out tickets for disorderly conduct, drunk-driving, drugged-driving, urinating-in-public, minor in possession, trespassing and other crimes as the population swelled in Spartan country for the annual Michigan-Michigan State football game. “Police were out in full force,” says drunk driving and criminal defense attorney Mike Nichols. He adds “every year they crack down on any violation especially urinating in public, despite the fact that there are far too few public restroom locations and temporary bathrooms constructed for the number of people who hit campus to tailgate on this game.”

The “team” at the Nichols Law Firm are ready to pounce right back, protect your rights and stand committed to results if you are charged with a crime as a result of attending the football game. The Nichols Law Firm lawyers are intimately familiar with the East Lansing District Court (this is called the 54B District Court). If you were given a ticket requiring you to appear within 3-10 days, you are able to waive that appearance for most criminal misdemeanors if you have a lawyer who understands how to file a waiver of arraignment then set your matter for a meeting with the prosecutor for Ingham County or the East Lansing City Attorney. These meetings are technically court appearances called “pretrial conferences.” You can e-mail or call the Nichols Law Firm at 517.432.9000 and talk to any of the five lawyers available to help you and find out why we are committed to results. mnichols@nicholslaw.net
