YOU CAN WIN YOUR DRIVING PRIVILEDGES BACK EVEN IF THE SECRETARY OF STATE TURNS YOU DOWN WHEN YOU REQUEST YOUR LICENSE TO BE REINSTATED AFTER IT WAS REVOKED FOR A DUI/OWI CONVICTION

Karen Phillips won a driver’s license appeal in circuit court.  The client had his driving privileges revoked for one year after two alcohol-related driving convictions.  The client’s driving privileges had been denied despite the hearing officer being provided with a positive substance abuse assessment, five letters of support, and information about counseling that the client attended.  After filing a brief in support and oral arguments, the circuit court judge agreed with Ms. Phillips’s position and overturned the hearing officer’s decision and reinstated the client’s driving privileges.
