Mike Nichols has been awarded the Leo A. Farhat award by the Ingham County Bar Association. The Farhat award is named after legendary attorney Leo A. Farhat of Lansing, founder of the Farhat Story Law Firm.
Nichols has been practicing for over 19 years as a trial lawyer specializing in criminal defense/DUI-DUID and forensic science issues. The award is conferred on a lawyer “who distinguished himself or herself by manifesting exemplary character, integrity, judgment and legal scholarship, while adhering to and advancing the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession.” It also talks about “…maintaining a life that balances a passion for professional excellence with the joy of family and friends.”
Nichols is the co-founder of the Nichols Law Firm. Wendy Schiller-Nichols founded the firm in 2006 with her husband’s help in East Lansing at 3452 East Lake Lansing Road.
The firm also announces the arrival of Christopher B. Wickman as an attorney. Mr. Wickman focuses his practice on criminal defense at the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Wickman has been practicing for over 7 years. James T. Heos joined the firm in October, 2016. Matthew J. Heos joined the firm in June, 2017. James, Matthew and Wendy focus their practice on personal injury/plaintiff’s side and general litigation.
Along with partner Karen Phillips, the firm has a combined 100+ years of experience (James Heos – 40+ years; Mike Nichols – 19.5 years; Wendy Schiller-Nichols – 19 years; Karen Phillips – 10+ years; Matthew Heos & Chris Wickman – 7+ years). Ms. Phillips and Mr. Wickman also serve on the mental health court team for the 30th Judicial Circuit in Ingham County.
