ATTORNEY PHILLIPS NEGOTIATED A RESULT THAT KEPT A MOTHER OUT OF PRISON

By Michael Nichols
Categories: Parenting Time

Criminal defense attorney Karen L. Phillips resolved a case for a mother who was charged with 3 felonies after she allowed her daughter to drive her vehicle. The daughter was not licensed to drive in Michigan when she drove a vehicle and caused the accident where a young child lost his life. The 3 felonies were: 1) Allowing an Unlicensed Driver to Operate Causing Death; 2) Allowing an Unlicensed Driver to Operated Causing Serious Injury; and 3) Allowing an Unlicensed Driver to Operate Causing Serious Injury. It is unlawful in the State of Michigan (penalty of up to five years in prison) to allow someone you know who does not have a valid drivers license to operate your vehicle.  The mother, thanks to Ms. Phillips negotiations was able to remain out of jail on a tether and probation.
