Attorney fights to win freedom for man wrongfully accused of a life offense

By Michael Nichols

Lansing-criminal-defense-attorney Karen Phillips got criminal-charges-dismissed for a client of the Nichols Law Firm after nearly 7 months of fighting. After prosecutors had trouble identifying a DNA sample, they realized the flaws in their case and dismissed the charges. The client was released from jail on the same day, but not after losing almost 7 months of his life behind bars for a crime that is believed to have been a false allegation. Ms. Phillips was pleased to see justice for what she believes was a false allegation. She said “the hardest part was knowing how much of his life my client lost, and more importantly how much time he missed in the lives of his children.” Ms. Phillips practices criminal law, driver license restoration, divorce, and custody in Lansing, Michigan. She can be reached at kphillips@nicholslaw.net or (517) 432-9000.
